People with a (dis)ability
Von Stockert and company members have led workshops for people with physical and/or with learning disabilities, where appropriate also integrating those who are carers. Rather than speaking of abilities and ‘dis’abilities, we prefer to talk of a person’s individual skills and possibilities. This principle applies to all participants we work with, whether old or young, with or without a disability. We believe that every person has a unique mix of capabilities that can be transformed into creative tools and inspirations. As in all our engagement projects, these workshops are tailor-made to the particular needs of the participants and proactively embrace difference and multiple voices.
A recent example: a programme of eight workshops took place at the care home Anne de la Girouardière in Baugé between January and July 2025. Fourteen residents of the care home took part, most of whom have mental and/or physical disabilities. Two members of the care home staff as well as two apprentices accompanied the residents and also participated in the workshops. The sessions, that took place both indoors and outdoors, were led by Maresa von Stockert, accompanied by the participation programme assistant Mélissa Favreau and the cameraman Jeremy Cox. The programme concluded with a presentation of the residents’ workshop creations that were shown via a short film created with and especially for them, their friends, families and the staff.
This project was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture – DRAC Pays-de-la-Loire, the Department of Maine-et-Loire, the City of Baugé-en-Anjou and the association Anne de la Girouardière.
