Johanna Merceron studied contemporary dance at the CRR de Lyon and then at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. During this time she took part in creations and repertory pieces by choreographers such as Mathilde Monnier, Carolyn Carlson, Shobana Jeyasingh and Matthias Sperling.

Since completing her training in 2015, Johanna has been performing for UK-based companies such as BitterSuite and IJAD Dance Company. She also works in collaboration with many emerging artists, including Natalie Sloth Richter and Greta Gauhe, through residencies, festivals and choreographic platforms in various European countries.

Also practicing music and singing, Johanna runs multi-disciplinary performing arts workshops with vulnerable and marginalized people for the Moving Waves company in London, alongside her work as a performer.

Fascinated by the dialogue between social sciences and artistic practices, she has obtained a Master’s degree in sociology at Goldsmiths University of London in 2022, to deepen her reflection on the major societal and environmental issues of our time.

Since her return to France in October 2022, Johanna has been working for the companies La Cavale (Julie Coutant and Éric Fessenmeyer) and Expérience 49 (Maresa von Stockert), while continuing her artistic collaborations abroad.
